About us

The IT&IM department is a professional provider of high-quality IT solutions and services and the driver for digital transformation. This results in improved productivity, better customer experience, new revenue streams and new business models. The department consists of approximately 160 FTE and provides 24-7 service to 35 business units and well over 7.000 users. The mission of IT&IM is to create business value by means of technology for Damen Shipyards Group by innovating the (digital) environment in which our colleagues, yards, ships, customers, and suppliers operate. Our IT&IM is organized in several agile teams, i.e. multidisciplinary teams that maintain and further improve and develop IT solutions.  

The role

Within our IT organization, there are multiple DevOps-teams that work together through our SAFe Agile framework. PI Planning is crucial for collaboration with teams, Product Owners and diverse other stakeholders. Even though the structure is already in place, we have noticed that de communication around PI Planning is not effective. Also Agile working has a difference in each teams.

There is a need for transparency, structure and mutual coordination, so that teams can collaborate better and stakeholders are involved in a timely and correct manner. Clear communication is the key to this.

Key accountabilities

As an intern, you will map the current communication flows around PI Planning and Agile working and improve them in a practical and impactful way. This ensures that collaboration, alignment, and Agile mindset within and between teams are strengthened.

• Investigate how communication currently takes place during PI Planning (preparation, execution, follow-up).
• Identify bottlenecks and needs through interviews and observations within DevOps teams.
• Analyze communication channels, tools, and moments (such as stand-ups, planning sessions, retrospectives).
• Develop a concrete improvement plan for communication:
• Evaluating the effects of your interventions through feedback rounds or short surveys.

Skills & Experience

To be taken into consideration for this internship, the following applies to you:

• You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master study within ICT, Business IT & Management, Communication or something similar.
• Affinity with Agile/Scrum and other team communication styles.
• You are communicative, to be able to connect with all different parties involved in this research project.
• Good command of English and Dutch language skills.
